About Rani Mukherjee
Rani Mukherjee is an actress and a producer. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance in the movie Devdas. She is also a producer and the president of her production company, Vishesh Films.
Mukherjee is a graduate of Kolkata’s Presidency College and had then appeared in several plays during her college days. She started her career in theatre in the year 1984, when she starred in the play Alankrita at the Central School of Drama. In 1988, she appeared in two more plays, namely Sleepless Nights and Bombay to Goa.
In 1992, Mukherjee debuted as an actress with the movie Pati Patni Aur Woh, and was later seen in the movies Daawat-E-Ishq, Pardes, Heroine and Ziddi. She also starred in a Marathi movie, Vaake Vaithe Nahi, in 2006. She also acted in a few television serials, including Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and her performance in that serial earned her a nomination for the Screen Award for Best Actress in a Comic Role.
Mukherjee won her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress for Devdas, for which she received the Best Actress award at the 61st Filmfare Awards. She was also nominated at the same award ceremony for her performance in the movies Pagli and Umrao Jaan.
About the Film
In the movie, Hichki, Rani Mukherjee plays a blind woman who possesses a gift of psychic powers. She has to protect a teenage girl who has an illness similar to Tourette syndrome.
The film was produced by Vishesh Films and Boney Kapoor Productions under the banner of Karishma Movies, and was directed by Ram Gopal Varma. R. Muthuraman and N. Ramarajan were the script writers. This film was also inspired by a real life incident in the life of Nandini where she was attacked, and what actually happened to her.
The score and soundtrack were composed by Salil Chowdhury. The soundtrack featured four songs, including one re-recording, a Kishore Kumar classic. One song composed by R. D. Burman was also included in the film. The lyrics were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. 01e38acffe
